Hi! My name is Kristi and I'm new to the world of chickens. I'm an ag teacher and few months ago one of my students brought me two pullets from Tractor Supply. We had been talking about getting some chickens to keep at the school for a while and I guess she figured it was time to put that plan in action.
As most of you probably know, your flock seems to multiply easily! We now have 4 hens and are looking forward to expanding to 8-10 hens next year.
One or two of the hens have recently started laying (yay!!!). We've gotten 9 beautiful little eggs in about a two week period. The two original hens are about 19-20 weeks old. The other two are about 16-17 weeks old. We have a black Australorp (named Lula), two red hens (Gladys and Nugget) and one white hen (named Crazy White Chicken).
We love watching them scratch around and chase each other!
I'm definitely looking forward to connecting with other chicken folks from around the country especially those in Central Texas.
Here are a few pictures of the ladies.
