Hi guys! I've had chickens for about 10 years, but I just recently expanded from a house on 1 acre to a house on 8 acres (more room for chickens and all my other crazy critters)! I started with bantams and am trying to increase my flocks of light brahmas and buff orpingtons. I have 4 small grandchildren so I'm focusing on the calmest breeds right now.

This spring I made a homemade incubator using instructions from BYC. When I finished it I was prouder than any 5th grader in a Science Fair!!!LOL I just hatched the first batch and was sorely disappointed to only get 7 chicks out of 25 eggs. Lots of fully formed chicks died in the shell--must have got the humidity too low or something.'

Anyhoo....I was thrilled to see a completely gold Brahma chick! Light Brahma chicks are black/grey and white. I'm really interested to find out what this one will grow up to look like. Any of you Brahma oficianados know anything about this?
