I had chickens growing up as a kid in Northeat Ohio. I've been living in a tropical paradise (Florida) for almost 20 years. Recently I've been thinking of raising a few chickens here in the suburbs. Hens only, no roosters. Eggs are the staple in our diet & knowing from growing up w/farm fresh eggs how much more you get from a home grown happy chicken vs. mass factory egg producer.
I have a friend willing to give me a cage but Im concerned if having dogs in such an enclosed space would create stress on the chickens & prohibit them from producing enough eggs to make worth the while.
My dogs (sheperd & chihuaha) are indoor dogs but enjoy their backyard. Will they ever get used to the chickens enough to not cause any stress?
