New here, I was on another chicken form before but i dont think it was this one, I am here to learn and share with you. live in Florida, in a small community just North of Daytona Beach. Love my girls as i call them. I did leave a question before i introduced myself, maybe i over stepped. So i will ask again can i introduce new chickens into an older flock, with causing picking etc; Do i have to build a seperate chicken coop and run. I love this place already, even tho i have been raising laying hens for about 3 years this time, i am still learning things.

Yes, you can introduce new birds to an existing flock once the new birds are about 16 weeks old(that's as young as I'll do it). I also have a chicken tractor inside my run so they can see each other for about a month or month and a half before I ever let them interact. I then let them free range together during the day for a week or so(separating at night) and FINALLY, coop them all up together. WHEW...it is a bit of a process. I am really careful with my integration so others may tell you different.
Good luck to you!

Thank you Easttxchick, that is what i wanted to know, i do have another coop i can fix up for them and put a yard around it, i may do that and solwly intergrate them like you say, thanks again. Carol
