(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have owned chickens for the last 8 years

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have twenty new chicks

(3) What breeds do you have?
I have buff Orpington's now but in the past have had heritage Rhode Island reds, Dutch bantams, silkies,Japanese bantams, silver laced Wyandotte’s, and several other odds and ends

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love spending time with them! They are so interesting and complicated compared to generalized stereotypes, there is nothing like a free range egg, and of course they are an indispensable part of any homestead farm.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I like to pin insects, play the Irish whistles (to my chickens of course), make homemade lace, macrame, collect houseplants, and grow vegetable gardens.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I have read byc posts since my first birds and they are very helpful but sometimes there aren’t threads on a particular problem I have had so I figured an account would be the best way to remedy that.
