Hi, I am 69 years old and would like to start a small backyard flock with my grandson. If anyone knows of a good quality hatchery in southern Maine that would be very helpful.

Hello Mainah! Do you know what breeds you want to get? Are you going to start out with grown hens or baby chicks? I am not familiar with Southern Maine, but I would suggest doing a Google search and see if you can find any small scale hatcheries in your area.

Hello, Michael, and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
You can purchase chicks from hatcheries outside of Maine. I'm in NY and purchased from Meyer Hatchery in OH. You can also look on FB for local poultry groups. Breeders in your area will likely advertise there and maybe you could purchase from them. Good luck.
