Hi everyone! I decided to finally join after spending many days reading all of the wonderful information on here. I have an incubator coming and Easter Egger hatching eggs being collected by a local farm that I will pick up in a week. It will be my first time incubating!
I don't currently have any chickens but I have in the past had Easter eggers, Ameraucanas, Rhode Island Reds, some assorted bantams, buff and red Orpingtons and black copper Marans. Unfortunately I also have a huge predator population so I've been looking at all of the coop and run designs on here, especially the Woods and other open air styles. I've built two coops in the past but they always end up too small! I'll be putting together a Salatin type tractor for the summer while I ponder and work on a larger winter coop.
This year I want to try hatching out some other types and breeds of chickens and try processing my own meat birds for the first time. Maybe some CX but I'm also researching other dual purpose breeds.
