I got 4 tetra tints and 4 production reds a little while ago who are now about 6 weeks old and yesterday I got 2 EE, 2 Silver laced wyandotes, and 2 buff orpingtons! They are all about 2 weeks old! Any tips on introducing them to the older chickens? Thanks!! :)

P.S. the older chickens are in the coop and the young ones are in my house in the brooder!

! Pleased you joined our flock! The age difference isn't that great but the size difference is - I'd let the youngsters get a little older before attempting to intro.

I was thinking the same thing, I will probably wait a few more weeks before introducing them! My older ladies are friendly so I think they will get along :)

This is our (Lchix27 and mine) coop for our 14 girls! Almost ready to cut the door out for them to use the run.

Thank you all for being so welcoming!

Do you think that they will all get along well when we do introduce them? And also what happens when the older girls are being fed layer and the young ones are not ready for it yet? Thanks!!

Hello and welcome from Ohio....so glad you joined BYC

Love your coop and run. What a nice looking setup :)

I had to divide my coop with chicken wire so my older chickens and younger chickens can be close but not get to each other. Now when they free range they all get along well.

There are several threads on integrating flocks. Just type it in the search bar at the top of the page for all kinds of advice and good luck
