Hi all, I am Susan from Michigan and I'm so happy to be here. I became a first time chicken mama in April, 9 EEs and 3 BRs. Every time I searched the internet for chicken info I found all the best stuff at BYC! I finally decided I should probably join. I never thought I would say this but I love my chickens! Three years ago we bought a house that already had chicken coops and runs. It was clear that somebody had spent a lot of time and money setting it all up and we felt a little guilty for not using it. Last winter we finally decided we would give it a try. We decided to start out with layers and then maybe add broilers if it went well. Things have gone very well so far though I did figure out that I love my chickens too much to eat them, so we will stick with just the layers. I am now addicted and have already ordered my chicks for this spring and have a wish list for future years. Thank you to everyone who has contributed info to the site, it has made my introduction to chicken keeping so much easier and more enjoyable!
