Hi, from middle Missouri. We are raising ducklings this year after 5 years of discussions. We were given some mystery eggs a while ago. We hatched out 3 of 7 nearly a week ago just ahead of the 28 days incubation. Yesterday we hatched 2 more on day 28. We also purchased 2 from the local farm store. They are adorable even though we have no idea what kind they are. A pic from this weekend;

Welcome to Backyard chickens. There are DUCK threads on here at "Other Backyard Poultry," forum above. They would be able to offer you the best advice and ID your ducklings, if they are not too young for that. I don't know anything about ducks except they are even more fun to watch than chickens. Don't tell anyone I said that.

I would love to know what the chocolate duckling is myself.

I have no clue, no one i know has ever seen a totally black duck: beak and feet. The yellow one has the head highlights of the stripy ones but they show up as green and only on the head. A mix maybe? I grew up with chickens and loved it. they wouldnt sleep in the coop only in the walnut tree. even when the wings were clipped.

Welcome to BYC!

I'm a chicken person myself but sure like to see photos of little ducklings, they are so cute. I hope you are enjoying them.

It's nice to have you here!
