Soooo a pal of mine had a chicken HE thought was a giant pain in the arse. She's the last remaining Rhode Island Red hen in a badly failed flock he had, and now MY favorite little buddy because I took this 'lap sitting chicken' home to a new life of pampering and attention. In fact, that's her name...Buddy. She's now 2

We all seem to suffer from the same gene that draws us to these birds. Uhuuum...chickens. LMAO... I personally think of them as hampsters for grown ups.. Pets that pay rent. I'M IN!!!

Last May was when I brought her home (on the passenger seat of my ol' pickup) and the rest is history. She was so captivated by ME that I in turn became captivated by HER. That head twist and look thing they do is priceless. I think it was then that the addict bell went off for me.

Im now the proud BOSS of 17 bird flock. 18 birds IF we're counting brains. Haha... Rhode Island's, Orpington, silkies, Cochins, leghorns and Japanese bantams. Learning as I go, but have a healthy and happy group :)

Looking forward to reading everyone's posts and getting more involved in the culture here. Haven't even gotten started here yet and already love it here. FEELS LIKE IM NOT THE ONLY ONE ANYMORE. NICE TO MEET YOU EVERYONE! :D

Nice to meet you Kevin. You can also check out "Canadians, check in here." You sure sound like our kind of people. Wish your Buddy had been seating on the car seat next to me. Sounds like such a charmer. Glad you caught the chicken bug.

Buddy is definitely 'different' than the rest. My pals jack Russell claimed a whack of his birds (he don't know his arse from a hole in the ground when it came to chickens). Buddy actually stood her ground and chased the **** dog around. Priceless! She's fearless and generally awesome. It's the coolest thing to park the car and see a chicken bouncing across the yard on her way to come and greet ya. Of course, it's probably to get a treat. Lol... I'll make it a point of sharing a few photos. I've been limited to my cell phone this far.
