(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am quite new to chicken and ducks. We decided (my familly) to make a move and obtain a better quality of life by moving to the country side and raise a couple animal and become more self sustaining. We have ducks, chickens and some quails!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I am taking care of about 50 quails (cortunix, some bobwhites also), 9 ducks (indian runners and possible mules?) and 4 chickens (brown, unknown race given to me, but look to have chanteclerc chicken next year)

(3) What breeds do you have?
Same as Q2.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Browsing the internet every time I had a question, I would end up on your forum and today decided to make the move and introduce myself.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I am a professional archaeologist, ex-chef, pastry chef and butcher (yes, i did change a lot of profession during my life)

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Like i mentioned in Q1, we moved to the country side to have a better quality of life, show to my child where food comes from *not styrofoam at the grocery*.

Thank you !

G’Day from down under Fredtheduck :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
