New member here planning to get chickens in the next few weeks. I am completely new to chicken keeping but have dreamed of having them since I was a child!
We are planning to get 3 or 4 hens to begin with, and I'd really like a variety of egg colours so I can tell who is laying what. We have been planning and slowly building our chicken 'facilities' since January and are very excited to finally get the girls (although I have recently become a bit terrified of red mite, and have posted in the pests and predators bit of the forum, if anyone has experienced red mite please give me your opinion on how serious a problem it is and alleiviate some of my anxiety!)
Other than being prospective chicken keepers my husband and I have a two year old daughter (who is also extremely excited about getting chickens) and a dog, and we love walking, gardening and generally like doing outdoorsy things.
