Hi everyone. We are new at raising chickens. We received 7 chicks in April from my Uncle. He had an incubator and kept the chicks until they were about 5 weeks old. We have had two crow already and had to get rid of one of them and the other one is going tomorrow. We live where you can have up to 12 chickens but no roosters. We are disappointed in that we wanted to have more hens so that we could get eggs. Is there anyone in the Saratoga County New York area that might sell young hens? Good news is we do have one hen because my son found it today.

Hi! Welcome!

Great that you are allowed so many hens! If you are looking for more hens you might want to shout out on your regional thread. Here's a link. https://www.backyardchickens.com/newsearch?search=upstate+NY
Best of luck to you!

congrats on starting your own flock. Good luck in locating more pullets to achieve your goals.

You should prepare for adding to the flock, the learning center offers articles on how to introduce new ones and there are quite a number of threads discussion techniques.
