Hi I'm from Spanish Fork, Utah and recently joined the backyard chicken club. We purchased 4 chicks from our local Cal-ranch store a couple weeks ago (2 Buff Orpingtons and 2 barred Plymouth Rocks). So far we are loving it! My 3 year old is fascinated with them and loves telling his friends about his chickens. This is by far the most helpful site I have found when trying to get info on how to raise chickens. We are excited for fresh eggs in the future :) Pictured below are the baby chicks when we first got them (they have tripled in size since then and have many feathers coming in) and the coop that I built. I'm proud to say the coop only cost $45 total!

. Love the coop! However you might want to replace the chicken wire with hardware cloth. Chicken wire keeps chickens in but not predators out.

Great coop - I second what Kevin has to say about the hardware cloth - welcome to BYC, and good luck with your flock.
