I have only had chickens since March when the Covid pandemic started. My son's Middle School has a 4H and they take care of chickens so his teacher asked for volunteers to home the chickens until schools open again. I had no experience with chickens so this has been a learning experience. We were given a small hutch that the ladies sleep in (in our garage because we have foxes and hawks and I know the hutch isn't safe). They free roam and I also bought a cage from Amazon that is 7 foot by 2.5 or 3 foot) that I put them in outside if I am unable to sit outside with them. I do literally sit out for hours everyday to protect them from the hawk that keeps flying into our yard and the fox that looks in our fence every day. They are serama's and I am completely smitten with them. They run after me if I walk around the yard....I really do love 💘 them already. I am glad to have found a community where I can look up tips if something arises so I don't bother the teacher all of the time.

Yes. That's how it works with chickens! Plenty of advice can be procured here at BYC. So, take a number, and have a seat. A counselor will be with you shortly! :lau :frow
