Good day to all from SW MS. I have been reading for some time and finally took the membership plunge
I have had chickens for the last 5 years. I started with 8 EE from a hatchery. I really liked them. Last october I came home from the fire house and found 2 dogs that got in my pen but could not get out. Before I got home, they killed all of them. So I started all over from the ground up. I now have 8 barred rock hens, 6 buff orpington hens, 7 SLW hens and 1 SLW rooster named 'Roux'. They are 9 months old and I get 16 to 18 eggs every day. My next goal is to thin down my waterfowl population and get my hands on some BLRW. These are some of the most beautiful chickens I have ever seen and I gotta have some
I have a wife and 2 wonderful children(son..4 yrs and daughter 2 yrs) I am a full time Fire Fighter and a part time waterfowl taxidermist.
This site is full of so much info that I have been going into sensory overload these past few days.
