(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Not new, my family had them growing up, and my mother still has a small flock, but this is "my" first flock (4 hens currently)

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Picking up 4 hens and all their stuff this coming weekend from some friends of mine!

(3) What breeds do you have?

These look like leghorns (I honestly didn't ask), will probably add some "color" in the future though

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

The eggs, having a good use for chicken appropriate compost, and hey, they're fun to watch running around :)

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Racing and riding motorcycles; horses

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Just me, my dogs, and my cat until the chickens get here. Building a business and mostly work remotely, so I'm home more often than not.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

My mother sent me here, so I'm here :D

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Hello, thanks - just had to comment, I am a "new-ish" Dobie mom myself - got my puppy in May, 9.5 months old now, so not a little baby anymore (although very much a puppy still lol).

I've had them for 27 years. All 6 of Dobies have been adopted. The youngest at 1 year old and the oldest and current one, Bella, at 4 yr 4mos old. The only puppy I've ever had is my current min pin, Piper. She is the most popular dog ever to walk the planet! All Bella's friends LOVE Piper. Two of the females will actually herd Bella away from Piper when she tries to play with her outside. No one, not even big sis, is allowed to play too rough with Piper!
Some of the gang...

Love it!!
He's my first puppy since I was a kid, although I've had dogs nearly my entire life all until him (including my other dog - a Great Pyrenees/Golden mix) have been rescues. I plan on competing in "something" (still TBD) with the puppy. He's definitely everything I hoped a Doberman would be.

Does he open doors? That is NOT something you want a Doberman to be doing.
Bella opens doors... and lets everyone out. And she once locked me out of the house by pawing the lever on the sliding glass doors. No. You certainly do not want THAT particular talent...
