first get chickens?



My family has always kept animals but since moving in with my grandparents I’ve been helping them take care of their flock and I’ve bought a few of my own



(2) How many chickens do you have right now?



Around 30



(3) What breeds do you have?



Rhode Island Red hens, 1 white leghorn rooster (I think a couple of the Rhode Island Red hens might be mixed with white leghorn). Some silkie and Cochin mixes of all kinds and colors. 4 Buff Brahma hens, 4 Easter hens. Some mystery mixed chickens.



(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?



I like hanging out with them and watching them run around while I’m doing stuff outside.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?



I paint and listen to music, and play some video games



(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.



My family lives together in southeastern Georgia near the border, we have our chickens, a dog, and some cats. We have just short of 4 acres right now so the chickens have a decent amount of space to wander.



(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?



I joined very recently, I’m looking for a place to sell and buy chickens

Hi! Thanks for the warning, I’m not an expect on chicken sicknesses but I remember family friends with chickens saying we need to quarantine new animals. I know a lady in town who lost nearly 60 chickens in a couple months recently, so I plan on being careful :)
