Hi all. My first time with chickens. My new husband has had chickens for years, but gave his existing flock away when we started dating 2 years ago. So, we have a new flock (January). Bought 8 straight run from a fellow on Craigs List (6 buff opringtons, 2 easter eggers). Turned out at least 6 were def roosters. We were down to the last two for a week or so (gave the roosters away) and were certain the remaining two (one of each breed) were hens - until today - they both crowed. I'm posting in chicken behaviors about crowing hens - pics too. Please help if you can. Thanks,

Sometimes when there is no rooster a hen will take over the job. Are you sure they are hens??? When someone is giving birds away you can practically bet your life, that they will be cockerels. Sorry.
