Hi I'm Fran and I recently acquired ducks and chicks. Back in May an employee at my shop said there were baby ducks on the property. Now I work at an automotive speed shop with no water around at all, off a busy highway, and 3 ducklings were found, which I had to believe someone bought them or received as a gift and dropped off in our parking lot! I brought them home thinking I was going to give them to my neighbor who just bought herself a farm and has raised baby chicks and ducks before. I had no idea what I was doing and unfortunately 2 of the 3 died immediately and then I figured it all out and the last one survived! Named it Quack Quack. My husband and kids talked me into keeping it and my husband promising me he's building a big run for them, I ended up buying another duck, a black Cayuga, Her name is Sharon. Quack-Quack have no idea what breed she is, and I hope its a she. She's small, with a hooked bill. Brownish like a mallard or roen, but looking at pics online she doesn't look like them at all. So a month goes by and my husband comes home from work and tells me I have 6 chicks on the way. (which I didn't ask for but ok) . they weren't hatched yet but they hatched the end of July and I got them and they will are 4 weeks old today, different breeds. They went outside today for the first time in their temporary coop. In the household I also have 2 weimaraners, and 2 frogs!
