Hi all, I'm a new member here. We have had 30 chickens for over a year that are all happy and healthy. We have raised some pekin ducks and they are all wonderful. We have just hatched out first pekin duck that went perfect, and she/he is fluffy and wonderful. Our second duck hatched this morning, but needed assistance as it was too weak to get out. Now it's out, and chirping to me, but very weak I have tried giving her some sugar water but she won't drink it yet. I'm keeping her warm and protected, but she's just "weak". I can't see anything that doesn't seem right about her.....other than that. She responds well when I talk to her, but not sure how long this stage could last?
Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks,

Hello, Jenny, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Either she needs a bit more time to recover and gain strength or she has genetic defect making it possible that she may fail to thrive. Time will tell. Just keep her warm and see how she does. It's not been that long if she just hatched this morning.

So an update - my little guy is getting stronger now! He's started trying to stand up and is now holding up his head. So I think it's just a little time that he needed.

Thank you all so much!!! :) Looks like he's going to be okay!!!
