(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes I am. I am currently on day 20 of my incubation. Crossing fingers!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? None, hopefully in the next day or two

(3) What breeds do you have? I'm not sure the breed that will be hatching from these eggs

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I wanted to have the whole experience from hatching an egg to raising a hen. I haven't raised any chickens yet, and everything will be new to me, but I look forward to all aspects of raising chickens and seeing their different personalities:)

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I love photography (which is more than a hobby), gardening, organizing and just recently started learning about stained glass.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I work full-time as a house manager for a private residence. I'm married with 3 adult kids 23, 22 and 20.(almost an empty nester;) We have a spunky and funny little French bulldog that is very spoiled who is turning 6 years old on Tuesday, March 4th:) Back in May of 2024 we had to put our English bulldog/puggle to sleep after 15.5 years and that was really hard for me:( I wanted to keep his memory alive and so I've been making vanilla extract and created a label with his favorite toy, (which was a sloth) and named it after him:) hoping to get my little shop up and running soon:)

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I had been doing research on raising chickens for a few months. Just trying to learn all I could (and obviously still learning) before taking the leap on hatching my own eggs. I found BYC over these last few months and decided to join because of the amount of information that I have learned so far just by reading information from all the chicken raising veterans on this forum.

Hiya, Jaime, and welcome to BYC! :frow

There's a lot of info here for whatever you might need to know about, or you can always just ask! Under the Article Tab above, you'll find our Learning Center with articles about raising chicks and much more, and also the Coop Forum is there as well.

Wishing you a great hatch!

:frow Hi and wrlcome! Great intro, glad to meet you and looking forward to hearing more about your chicks when they hatch, and hopefully seeing pictures as well. What breeds are they? You're very brave, starting out at the very beginning like that! Keep us posted, please!
Thank you and I will! I'm not sure what breed. I actually bought fertile eggs from a local grocery store and out of the 10 I added to the incubator, 3 made it to lockdown. One has been extremely active (hoping that's a good thing, watching it's little egg wiggle around:) all I have is they are organic fertile brown eggs from Mollie Stone's, here in California. I truthfully didn't even think any would make it this far.
