hello...I just joined and I just got chickens....I have a nice coop and run and so far everything is going well.
I'm concerned however, my chickens are not using the coop.....does it take them time to get use to the coop???....my wife said the door it's too small...could this be the case?

Greetings from Kansas, ghostcat, and

! Pleased you joined our flock! That is one great looking coop! When you say not using it do you mean at night or they don't lay their eggs in it? Either way, I think the best way to get them used to "home" is to lock them up in it for a couple days - they see to get the idea then. Good luck to you!

Maybe your ramp is too steep for them. How old are they and what breeds? If you are in a hot climate it may be too hot inside for them. I don't see any windows or ventilation. Redsoxs is right you need to lock them up in the coop a few days so they realize the coop is home

. If you just have been free ranging them (I don't see a run) they have probably gotten accustomed to going wherever they please and using anything for a nest. Maybe they are afraid to come back to the coop because they see your big dogs.

Thanks for the welcome and your responses....the dogs are far away from them so I don't believe that's the issue....I started locking them in the coop starting tonight and I'll do that for the rest of the week...maybe that'll help.....
Thanks again
