Hi All,
Well, I took the plunge and got 3 Australorp pullets from a Pet Store in the West Valley (of the PHX metro area). They are Adelaide, Matilda, and Olivia. I'm in an HOA, so I guess I'm kind of an 'outlaw' (however, the town is cool with chickens, so I'm good there). I'm hesitant to broadcast my exact location, but lets just say my town rhymes with 'Dilbert'.
I have them in a brooder now. They are about 2 weeks old and starting to flutter about a little, but they are very, very managable. I've been feeding them Purina Start & Grow, and giving them some parakeet grit--mostly so they have something to peck at besides each other. They're doing a lot of poopin' eatin' and drinkin' and they have grown a lot since I got them a week ago.
I purchased a really nice chicken ark online and have it in the backyard where nobody can see it.
Anybody near me have any experiences they want to share, please don't be shy!
