Getting started with 3 chicks (rhode island red, golden comet, and a plymouth barred rock). Our chicks are almost 3 weeks old now and seem to be doing great! They are all 3 growing like weeds! I have been lurking and reading threads and finally decided to join the forum. I am working on the coop currently and will be posting a thread soon for some advice with that. Look forward to growing our little flock, which we intend to be more like pets that happen to lay eggs haha

We live in a fairly spaced out neighborhood with a half acre backyard.. we don't intend to have a big flock at all "planning" to max at 5 hens.. my wife really wants to include an ameraucana for the colored eggs so that may be next up on the list.

Look forward to learning from everyone here!

Hi and welcome to BYC

Congrats on your new flock and we will keep an eye out for pics of your coop. I'd like to live in a "spaced out" neighbourhood

The Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken keepers - loads of info on anything chicken. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Joining your state thread will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area, which can be helpful (just type the name of your state in the search box).

All the best

Those little chicks grow fast, hope your coop build goes smoothly!
