In the Brooder
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am in the researching and planning stages right now and am hoping to get my first chickens this summer.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
My goals for the chickens are to have eggs for us (2 adults) and also to keep them as pets. I've had the opportunity to visit with chickens and I like them a lot.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Horses are my main lifetime hobby, I go to the barn where my horse lives every day to ride or just to see him. I like gardening and also sewing.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm retired and my husband is still working, it's just the two of us. I have one indoor-only cat and my horse who lives at a nearby boarding stable. We live in MA between Boston and Worcester in an area that is somewhat rural, but not rural enough to be able to have free ranging.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I'm not sure where I first saw this group but I kept seeing references to it as I started to do research on coops and ownership. The community seems friendly and positive and I am hoping to find some friends here who share this interest.
Thank you for your welcome and I look forward to getting to know some of you here!
