Hi, everyone, I just recently bought three chicks and built a chicken coop in my backyard. I am new to raising and keeping chickens and would appreciate any information that would help me raise healthy happy hens. I do have a problem though. One of my chicks is about 12 weeks old now and has started to try to crow. I now realize that I have a rooster and not a hen. My neighbors and code enforcement will not allow me to keep him. He is a White Crested Black Polish Rooster. He is very pretty. I would like to know if anyone would like to have him as a pet and not to eat. I would like to find a good home for him. I live in San Bernardino, Ca. It is very hard to find a home for a rooster I am finding out. Thank you.

Most of us..all over the country are going through the same thing. I go to our state thread. Sometimes someone is looking for a particular breed, and yours is a sought after breed for many. Go to your state thread on here and ask if anyone is interested in a FREE Polish Rooster. You may have to meet up somewhere, but at least you have found him a home. Hopefully. Good luck. :)
And...

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

So sorry about the crower!! You might stop by your state thread and do some chatting with your chicken neighbors. Maybe someone nearby might take him....

After you have 20 posts, you can place an ad in our Buy Sell and Trade section in hopes of finding him a good home...

I sure hope you can find him a nice forever home. Welcome to our flock!

It is difficult to find homes for roosters, because of zoning rules most are not allowed to keep them. Nearly every post we get here is about "surprise," roosters or family pets that devoured their chickens.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! TwoCrows gave you some nice links to post on about your rooster, you might also check your local feed store if it has a bulletin board or takes roosters and also CraigsList and places like that.

Thanks everyone for your help. I will try those sites and see what happens.

I'll give him a great home with his own set of polish hens if you want to Fed-Ex him to Arkansas.

I'd even post you a few shots of him in his new home right here. I mean this is near epical. How often does a rooster relocate clean across the country! Imagine the diversified gene pools. His children would probably be super intelligent.

Thank you for the feed store suggestion. I called my local feed store and they were very excited to get my rooster stating that a lot of local breeders would be happy to have my Polish. I also want to thank everyone for their suggestions and help in finding a home for my roo.

sorry I did not see your post before I gave my roo to my local feed store or I might have done just that and sent him to Arkansas. I'm sure he would have been very happy.
