Hi there. My husband and I are going on our second season of maintaining a small chicken flock.
We have 6 malaysian serma's (3 roos 3 hens which are in an off the ground pen), 2 male call ducks and a mixture of random hens/roos (which are in a large shed/fenced in area.) They are all small and get along very well. We free range during the day for the most part.
This is our second flock as our first one was all killed out over the winter by a couple of very smart minks. Even though we kept our flock locked up, the minks were getting in through our fencing. Took care of the mink problem though
have one original chicken left, and started a new flock.
Joined the forum because we just had a hen go broody and am looking for some expertise. We weren't exactly expecting any chics and found one Sunday evening. By the time we got home from work Monday to try to seperate them out the chic was gone.
also looking to expand our duck population. Hoping to find someone selling runner duck chics/eggs.
