Hey all,
I am a new member living in Chesapeake, VA and do not have any chickens . . . yet. Currently the city has zoning laws against them based on where your house is located. I have emailed the local extension agent to see if there is a backdoor approach or if I have to pay the $250.00 for a zoning variance. My neighbors are fine with the chickens and said to go ahead and get them so that is one hurdle jumped.
I have enjoyed reading the posts and have learned quite a bit. Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge, designs, and stories.
I think we want 2 Marans, 2 Plymouth Barred Rocks, and 2 Amerecauna's (sp?). My local Southern States recommended the Amercauna's based on their docility. We eat about 24 eggs a week so egg production is plus. My oldest daughter said they have be "pretty" as well
My youngest said "MORE "?" (I think she said chicken but we're not sure. I'm not fluent in toddlerese.)
Thanks again,
Brent
