Hi,
I'm fairly new to chickens - got started by "accident" 16 months ago. Hubby bought some chickens as a "fence tester". We had put the electric fence up because we lost my flock of geese to predation.
So, then he went to some auctions with a friend, and came home with Muscovies. Oh, and some guineas, and a few more chickens and banties, and runner ducks...! Then came the incubator and hatcher. We already had the rabbitry.
I like having the fresh eggs. And I love watching chicken antics. I particularly like to watch our young cockerel "court" his pullets. (That really crazy dance that makes him look like he's drunk, or stepped in something horrid!) He's quite a charmer and so gentlemanly. I would not have thought it of a chicken.
I came to this site when I had questions - did a Google search and found so much helpful info here. So many of you have contributed to the health and happiness of my flock (right now about 18 birds).
All the best to all of you!
