I've been lurking here since we got our first flock of hens 4 years ago and finally decided it was time to join ;) We live out in the South Shore of MA and have a flock of 15 hens and one roo named L.D. We started with 6 hens, 2 RI Red, 2 Barred Rock and 2 Americauna and this year added to our flock with Brahmas, Wellsummers, Speckled Sussex, Golden Laced and Silkies. We were able to blend our big chickens together and the Silkies have their own little coop. It will be our first winter with the Silkies and I am anxious about how they will do and keeping the little buggers dry.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Good ventilation should keep everybody dry. I have never had luck with small coops no matter how many holes I cut in the ceiling. Bigger coops are much easier to ventilate.

Good luck and welcome to our community! :)
