(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes new - our chickens are currently 5 months old.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 11 hens and 1 rooster

(3) What breeds do you have? RIR, Buff Orpingtons and Black Australorps

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
hiking, gardening

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I have two kids, 2 dogs, and a guinea pig in addition to our chickens

It's normally pretty important when asking for or offering help/advice... You know, climate and similar issues. Browse around and enjoy all the great info and experiences shared. Thanks everyone! I know this forum will be a wealth of knowledge. As a new chicken mom I'm really enjoying my flock - I've never even been around chickens before so it's fun to learn about these birds.

I will update my post to also say I'm from Alaska :)
