Hi! I'm a fairly new member to this site and I would like to introduce myself. You may simply call me by my nickname, Ash. At the current moment, we have a small flock of four living in our backyard. We used to own a larger flock, but after two incidents of our neighbors' dogs breaking in, our flock has been reduced greatly. Fortunately, we have obtained eight new chicks who all show signs of being happy and healthy.
In the new flock, we have two buff orpingtons, one gold-laced Polish crested, a barred rock, a black sex-link and a red sex-link, one speckled Sussex, and an americauna.

Hi :welcome Ash

Glad you could join the flock! Sorry to hear you had losses because of your neighbour dogs.
Congratulations on your new chicks that's a lovely mix you have there. I have mainly polish and I started my chicken journey with red sex links and they were super layers.

Good luck with your flock in the future, I hope you can keep your flock safe from the dogs.
Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Thanks! We will always keep the memories of our old chickens in our hearts, but luckily our new flock will help us stay positive. So far, they are our sweetest flock.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Sorry about your losses. It is never easy to lose them no matter how they go. But congrats on the new chicks! I hope they always bring you great joy.

Make yourself at home here and if you have any questions about your new chicks, feel free to ask around the forums.

Welcome to our flock!

Losing chickens to other animals is always so hard!

Congrats on the new flock! Hope all goes smoothly with them! Feel free to ask any questions. You've picked some great breeds. I also have buff orpingtons and a speckled sussex. I love their personalities!

Welcome to Backyard chickens ASH. I hope you will secure your run and coop, so the neighbors dog can't kill your chickens again. You should file a complaint with your police department or animal control- whoever handles that in your community. Your neighbor should pay restitution for your lost birds, at the very least. Or you will be replacing your birds very often.
