Hello
I got into chickens about three months ago, I have three Golden comets to start with and looking for a few more. I build a run for the girls because I do have a lab/Great Dane mix and the last owner of this house lost her flock to predators.
I got the chickens for myself and my three kids, they have really taken a interest in them.
I work in construction as a safety manager and currently finishing my degree in occupational safety and health. So the girls have been a good distraction for me. I have found that I become sort of addicted to chickens and reading about them and I can accroas this site and figured I would sign up

Hi Jason and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us.

This is a useful link of BYC guides to take a look at announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3 I’d suggest including your location using the guide in that link. You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Hi Jason, glad to hear the whole family is enjoying the chickens!

Before you add more birds, I'd strongly suggest reading up on isolation and integration. This is one article about those subjects that will give you a start:

Best wishes to you!

Hello, welcome to Backyard Chickens, Jason!:woot

I am glad to hear your run is built since it will most likely reduce the chances of predators. Have you provided them a coop as well? I agree that you should check out the article @N F C provided before integrating any chickens into an already existing flock. You will definitely pick up some good information that you will be glad you heard!;)

Hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do!
