(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Totally new to chickens. Planning on getting my first chickens after April.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None
(3) What breeds do you have?
After studying Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens I am going to try Buff Orpington as a dual chicken breed
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Not sure yet, but I am looking to raise my own food.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Homesteading, natural healing, herbalism, permaculture
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My wife and I have finally decided on pursuing the dream of owning and operating a small homestead in Missouri. It had been a lifelong dream for my wife and since we both grew up on farms I believe it is time to get back to our roots.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found this site through an internet search in February 2021. I was doing a research paper for college and was searching for information about chickens.
