(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, brand new! The school I teach at worked with a local farming family to hatch chicks with our students. There were 3 chicks in need of a little extra TLC (a splayed leg, an injured leg, and a sick chick) when they were all to head back to the farm, and I had already been focusing on them each day, so I offered to take them and help the 3 for a while to return them to the farm. However, a lot of people in my area keep chickens, and after a lot of consideration, I'm hoping to do the same now.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Two! Unfortunately, the sick chick was suffering more than I could help, no matter what I tried, and I lost him at just 5 days old (which was devastating!).
(3) What breeds do you have?
Unsure! Looking for help in a recent post.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I'm about to find out.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies/passions?
Teaching, creating/DIY, running, reading, hanging out with my Pug!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've been using BYC to find answers to my neverending questions. It has been quite helpful! Google lead me to it, but I've finally joined so that I can just ask questions of my own when I can't find the answer I'm looking for. Thanks in advance for all the support!
