New member-mostly new to chickens. Hi!

Hi,

I’m Elana, and I’m (mostly) new to chickens. I grew up on a hobby farm, and tried to take chicks from their mom when I was three or four, despite being told not to do so, and that has been the extent of my chicken experience thus far. However, we’re building a coop and greenhouse in our backyard, with an enclosed run, and plan on getting four Silkie chicks from VJP Poultry in MN on the week of 06/16.

My husband and I live in a small town with a limit of 13 hens and no roosters. We have two daughters who are eight and eleven. We also have 2 Great Danes, 2 cats, a Bearded Dragon, and 3 fish, so this brings our pet count up to nine, or twelve if we count the fish, so I’ve clearly lost my mind.
