New member new chicken

I wanted to wait until spring to start chickens but one cold evening this stray rooster decided to move into my shed. Got him set up. He's nice...polite even. But i dont know what breed or mix he is. Help is appreciated. I want to get him some girlfriends come spring.

Thanks to all for the info. I have books on chickens but not much information is provided about gamebirds. I will look into those creatures and their benefits. He is safe, warm, and as my daughter said, a pet and not a plate chicken.

Hello, and welcome! If you will be looking for some girlfriend's for your roo in the spring, I would go with either some point of lay pullets or hen's for him.

If might help if we could see him standing - so know what kind of legs he has under him.
Short/long - what color legs & feet - clean legged or feathered etc. You can also post his photo at "what breed or gender is this." for many professional opinions.
