Hello everyone, my Name is Lera, I am new to this site but ,have raised chickens for most of my life. I even hatched a chick with a light bulb as a child. I recently moved back to my home state of Florida and once settled I m starting my chicken ranch up again. I have a new adventure with new stock and new babies to come, I am excited! I raised pure bred chickens in order to try and preserve the breeds as well as keep the rarer breeds going. I raised RIR's Buff Orpingtons, Americans, seabrights, serama, Ayam Camani "also known as the black chicken through and through because even its organs are black. I came across this site while researching breeds and their hardiness to cold weather while I was living in Tennessee. I was new to the area and did not want to get birds that would suffer in colder weather and wanted to know how to prepare for winter there. besides my chicken babies I enjoy sewing, crafts painting, and exploring my surroundings. My husband and I have been married 0 plus years, 4 grown children and 12 grandchildren, and then there are our fur babies 5 Chihuahua's Buster, Abby, Christian, Jo Jo and Baby Girl. I look forward to interacting with you all in the future and learning new and exciting ways to care for my babies.
