I just joined today, I am 70 and started raising chickens about 5 years ago. I have 30 hens and 1 rooster, I did have two roosters but they were trying to kill;l each other so I gave away one of them. My last hen house is a large 14 X 16 building.

That's a great size coop for that flock. Have you ever considered letting one of your hens set some egg if one goes broody and raising up one of the cockerels to be second in command? Roosters are surprisingly tolerant of their own sons.
