Hi, all,

I'm one step down from an aspiring chicken keeper, which is to say someone who is friends with a chicken lover! All the fun stories and almost none of the poop. Maybe someday I'll be in a situation where I can have a few birds of my own, but for now that isn't possible.

Right now I'm looking for some advice about where to buy a few chicks as a gift for my friend, who has really gotten into raising chickens. I'm in Fairfield County, CT.

While I don't have much experience with chickens, I've got lots of experience building things, so maybe I could answer a few questions about coop/run construction techniques.

Looking forward to learning more about chickens and local suppliers!

I would ask around in the Buy/ Sell/ Trade forum for people around you selling chickens. You could also ask around in your state thread.

Welcome to BYC! I am near you and know of someone that breeds bantams near me. Otherwise, looking on the state thread and the Buy~Sell~Trade forum would probably be good ideas.
