(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
A. I have had chickens and pigeons for a good 50 years.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
A. Around 25 free roaming chickens and 53 Syrian Coop Tumblers mostly show/some pet pigeons.
(3) What breeds do you have?
A. Dutch Bantams, Porcelain D'Uccle, and American Game (the hens are the best mothers at protection of chicks)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
A. Birds are part of my atmosphere, I can't imagine life without birds, especially the wild birds.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
A. My horses, camping in the desert, rock hounding, badminton, golfing. (I have too many hobbies, but need to learn how to use my sewing machine!)
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
A. 1 husband my age, one daughter 28, I am a retired jr high school Language and PE public school teacher, 4 dogs( Females- Doberman, Aussie, Catahoula Leopard Dog, 1 male Catahoula Leopard Dog. All my dogs are in charge of watching out for our home, and all the livestock. They are also loose with all the free roaming chickens and are 100% trustable not to chase or kill birds!! Ground squirrels and etc.'s (Ok, and maybe the Fed-Ex man )are not so lucky. 4 horses, 3 old to very old horses we've had since yearlings, and one new 2 yr old black BLM Mustang I adopted at an auction to save bec our government wants to erase mustangs off the public lands, saying they are an invasive species, even though horses of same size were created here in North America and roamed here until 10,000 yrs ago, and help grasslands to exist, the government will replace the horses with cattle which are not native ever to NA, and cannot even withstand the winters in most western states and have to removed, cattle also destroy all the grass seed they ingest and poo in their water sources if possible. I have never gone out to the desert to look for cows, but seeing a herd of wild mustangs is breathtaking indeed.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

A. I found your website at least 5yrs ago looking for answers to odd homestead poultry, bird issues or illnesses. I decided it was time to join as Face Book is a pain to do same searches!
