Hey all! Finally decided to join officially, and per the site instructions, I'll introduce myself here via the template provided:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
First had chickens as a kid, but couldn't get any as an adult until I bought my own home (hooray!). Finally am starting up a flock of my own to teach my kids how great farm fresh eggs can be.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 6 now, three more on the way. Pretty sure a couple future roos are in the mix (maybe), so I'm making sure to get ahead of potentially rehoming them outside of city limits.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have four EE's, two Barred Rock and a trio of Cuckoo Marans on the way.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love seeing the individual personalities develop just as much as the coloring that each chicken produces.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Will watch most any sport, at any time. I have a huge (at least in city limits) garden that take up most of my free time.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Have three daughters, a couple of mutts and now chickens.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC by googling how to sex EE chicks. And this site is FULL of people having the same problem I'm having trying to figure out exactly what these chicks are trying to be.
