My family and i are going to be either re-homing some ex-commercial hens in the next few months or buying some hens. We arent sure! Can any of you please help? I do study animal care at college and i do know how to handle hens. But the family and i dont have a clue where to start, e.g. breed, housing, feeding, veterinary care etc. We have done some research on the housing though and we do sort of have an idea on the housing, but we would like to know which is the best. We do have a rabbit which lives up the garden which is out when the weathers good she is an angorra, we also have a border collie (very docile) and a pond (covered). Please feel free to post links as this would be helpful and any ideas on books to buy or borrow.

Which housing is best for a small country house garden? (limit to 3 chickens)
Where to start on feed, veterinary care, breed of chicken?

Are hens good at walking up steps as our garden is half patio and half raised grass?
