Hi all,
Thanks for the add! Hubby and I have 6 one month old chicks. I have wanted chickens since I can remember but hubby is a kidney tranplant patient in ESRF for the 2nd time and not supposed to be around chicken poop. So it's been out of the question. Only his buddy recently acquired his brother's flock a few months ago and turned hubby onto the prospect of our very own organic eggs! I am so happy...but nervous! We have 2 dogs and our daughter's cat living with us and our son recently adopted his own pup while still living with us. We have a barn, a small barn, that once upon a time did house chickens. We cleaned out one of the rooms for the coop and purchased a dog run for a chicken run. We temp. put the dog run closer to the house than the barn and we like it's location so....we purchased a Step 2 playhouse to convert and put into the dog/chicken run. Hubby is just realizing the amount of money needed to keep our chickens safe. They are currently still in the brooder in our sun room. But they go outside, under supervision, daily with our now 3 dogs, 4 if our oldest son's dog is here (ooy vie). Never was one to like birds as pets although we love watching them in our side garden. But I am in love with our little flock of preteen squirts! I have lots of questions, have been reading past questions / answers. So please bear with me. And, again, thank you for the add!
