Hello, I am Denise. I have a flock of 30 hens.
three days ago I found one with limp neck and closed eyes. I thought she was dead, but when I came home from work she was breathing. I looked closer with vet and noticed alot of bruising in her neck.
I have been giving her electrolyte with syringe and have moved her inside. I have no clue what is going on ??????

Is it possible she got her neck caught in something and was finally able to get free or I'm wondering if a predator grabbed her and was unsuccessful. Does she show anything other than bruising, like broken skin, punctures, missing feathers. Do you have any chicken hating neighbors? With all the aggression we hear about on the news - I wonder if some human tried to break her neck- and left her thinking she had died.

Did the vet have any advice or explanations? It's very disturbing about her. I'd keep close watch on your flock. Hope she will recover.

Hi :welcome

Sorry to hear about your hen :hugs x2 on drumstick divas points about what could have happened to her. I think for now you are doing all you can to help her. But you could also post her symptoms in the emergencies disease injury section of the forum with as much detail as possible. Here is the link https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures

Hopefully other members may have more suggestions for you.
Wishing you the very best of luck and I hope she makes a good recovery.

Oh, I am so sorry about your bird!

It is possible it was an injury of some sort and hopefully not some deficiency or wry neck. Definitely stop by our emergency and post this there for more help.

I hope she makes a full recovery!!
