In the Brooder
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
When I was a kid my aunt/uncle had many chickens so I was around them but never really involved. So... not 100% lost but still a newbie!
Had my own chickens two months or so now.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
21
(3) What breeds do you have?
Have my laying starter chickens:
3 barred rocks (possibly cuckoo marans) or a mixture of the two
(opinions please. I have two like one pictured in back. Bigger comb flesh toned legs all black tails. And one w/ smaller comb yellow legs barred everywhere.)

1 Mystery Chick
I think it’s a brahma or cochin (leaning towards cochin opinions please)
From an acquaintance (3 weeks old):
3 SR Gold Laced Wyandottes
2 SR Blue Laced Red Wyandottes

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Eggs are a big one. I’m aiming for a colorful egg basket.
They are loads of fun to watch.
My bug problems have been drastically reduced.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I like building stuff with wood I’m no cabinet maker but I’m pretty handy. Rollaway nesting box was fun but it needs modification to work a little better.
Real big into computers have built numerous high end PCs for myself and others.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Have a wife and 3 kids. The older two (7 and 4) LOVE gathering eggs and having chick time.
Have a corgi/border collie mix and 3 of her puppies. She hasn’t actually attacked any chickens but the way she herds any stragglers back to the group scares me every time.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Looking up coop ideas you come across this site a lot. I spend a lot of time visiting now.
