Hello BYC friends! I have been enjoying your posts over the past year, and just recently decided to join. Thank you all for your many helpful hints on water systems, feed and health issues. I'm finally joining as my two girls have decided not to get back to laying for over 3 months. Doesn't seem to matter whether there is a lamp, food, supplements, "pretend egg" placed in box or whatever and I'm at my whits end trying to figure out how to get them to produce again. We've successfully gotten them through molting- but that was over 2 months ago and still no eggs. Both appear happy, healthy and are eating well. Vet says they are fine- no eggs stuck in the "channel". Anyone have any other words of wisdom to share to get these girls back on track? They are just over 1 year old. Thanks!

I increased the protein on mine and they all got back to laying lots of eggs. Right now I'm using Nutrena Feather Fixer and a bit of oyster shell.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Sometimes hens just take breaks. Make sure they have plenty of water, food and calcium. I sometimes found that when they have a lack of calcium, their eggs shrink and then they stop laying altogether. And they always need to have water and food to keep their bodies working properly.

Thanks- I'll try the Nutrena food and see if that helps the girls out:)

Maybe they are waiting for a pay raise.

OR try letting them know how good they would look in a soup pot with noodles and veggies.
