I have another question actually for all of you guys. My EE has stepped on my two younger laying hens and one looks like she is now broody. My EE is still a little young and i am wondering if he is actually a roo and if so can he make the eggs fertile and has not crowed here is a pic of Blu the roo and my broody

Welcome to BYC and the wonderful world of chickens!

Could you post a picture of your EE? They are really handsome birds as roosters, you're lucky if you have one.

Best of luck!

Yeah i dont know if he is a roo but he made my other hen stay on her eggs. (he isnt that big and doesnt crow look at the shucked corn at her feet for size reference)

Ok but he hasnt started to crow. I live in redondo beach haha Roosters are not allowed but he doesnt crow could this be because he has mates and does have any challenges?

Also is there any certain type of food that i should feed him now that i know he is a roo? Ive been getting an 8 pound bag of layfeed and mixing it with scratch should i give him something else?

Some roosters don't crow until they are a year old!

My roosters are healthy and have eaten laying food for years.
